The O'pen BIC Class has achieved ISAF International Status following the 2008 ISAF Annual Conference that took place in Madrid in early November 2008.
This new status recognises the vitality of the young O'pen BIC Class and will help reinforce its strong international growth. The O'pen BIC achieved this status as a result of the boat's lively performance, its strong worldwide distribution and growth, and a vibrant event calendar including new and innovative racing formats with an emphasis on fun!
Performance : The O'pen BIC is a very fast and reactive boat that is simply a pleasure to sail for the next generation looking for strong sailing sensations.
Distribution : The O'pen BIC is distributed in more than 35 countries, with particularly strong fleets throughout Europe, North and South America. Fleets are now also developing in the Asia Pacific region.
A vibrant Event Calendar : In 2008, National O'pen Cups were organised in many countries. At the international level, 3 events welcomed more than 45 competitors per event : the World O'pen Cup in France, Carnac; the Euro'pen Cup in Italy and the US O'pen Cup in the USA.
Innovative Racing Formats : Speed, Slalom, O'pen Cross and Adventure Race courses; short racing times, no protests - all these features contribute to the festive atmosphere of O'pen Cups and ensure a great time is had by all the sailors.
