Robin Follin wins the Louis Vuitton Junior Trophy - France, November 2009

Our 20 young sailors from the south of France who had qualified themselves for the finals, were eager to get going on Saturday 21st November in the Baie des Anges, Nice. Winds were slight, everyone doing their best to catch a gust of wind. Form the start it’s Robin Follin of Sainte Maxime Yacht Club who took the lead, knowing how to let his O’pen Bic loose! His top speed and sense of tactics gave him a good headstart and he easily won the first regatta. Robin performed as well in the next two regattas, coming 1st and 2nd and he therefore became the overall winner of the Louis Vuitton Junior Trophy.

It was the Minister for Industry, who is also Mayor of Nice, Mr Christian Estrosi, along with Mr Yves Carcelle, Louis Vuitton CEO, who formally awarded the first prize, an O’pen Bic, to Sainte Maxime Yacht Club. Dean Barker, the skipper of Team New Zealand, was there to congratulate the young sailors and invited Robin onto his boat for the final of the Louis Vuitton Trophy.

A fantastic dream come true for Robin Follin!
